Terms of Service — WhatsApp Connect (Meta App)

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern use of the WhatsApp Connect app ("the App", "we", "us") as registered on the Meta App Dashboard and its use of the Meta WhatsApp Business Platform, including the WhatsApp Business Cloud API and related Graph API endpoints ("Meta Platform"). By connecting a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) to the App, the merchant ("you") agrees to these Terms.

1. Description of the Service
WhatsApp Connect is a Shopify application that lets an e-commerce merchant connect their own WhatsApp Business Account to their Shopify store, so they can send and receive WhatsApp messages with their customers. You authorize the App by providing credentials for your own Meta App/WABA (phone number ID, WABA ID, and a Cloud API access token). The App then calls the Meta Platform on your behalf to deliver this functionality.
2. Eligibility and Your Responsibilities
- You must hold, or be authorized to manage, a valid Meta Business and WhatsApp Business Account, and must comply with Meta's own WhatsApp Business Terms, Meta Platform Terms, and Commerce Policy at all times.
- You are responsible for the accuracy of the credentials you provide, for the content of message templates you submit for Meta's approval, and for obtaining any required consent (opt-in) from your customers before messaging them via WhatsApp.
- You must not use the App to send spam, unsolicited marketing outside Meta's messaging policies, or content that violates WhatsApp's Commerce or Business Policy.
- You are responsible for keeping your Shopify store credentials and Meta App access token confidential.
3. Our Role
We provide the software that connects your Shopify store to the Meta Platform using the credentials you supply. We do not own or control your WhatsApp Business Account, your message templates, or your relationship with your customers. Message delivery, template approval, and account status are ultimately governed and enforced by Meta, not by us, and we are not responsible for Meta's decisions to suspend, restrict, or reject your WABA, phone number, or templates.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use the App, or the Meta Platform through the App, to:
- Send messages to recipients who have not opted in, or after they have opted out
- Transmit unlawful, deceptive, harassing, or infringing content
- Attempt to circumvent WhatsApp's messaging or template policies
- Reverse engineer, resell, or sublicense the App's access to the Meta Platform outside your own store's use
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms, Meta's policies, or applicable law.
5. Fees
Use of the App may be subject to subscription fees charged through the Shopify App Store, and use of the WhatsApp Business Platform is subject to Meta's own conversation-based pricing, billed directly by Meta or via your connected WhatsApp Business Account. We are not responsible for fees charged by Meta.
6. Disconnection and Termination
You may disconnect your WhatsApp Business Account from the App at any time from within the App settings. We may suspend or discontinue the App's integration with the Meta Platform if required by Meta, for security reasons, or if these Terms are violated. 7. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access to the Meta Platform, message delivery, or template approval, as these depend on systems operated by Meta. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App or the Meta Platform.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in our practices, the Meta Platform Terms, or applicable law. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last Updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
