User Data Deletion Instructions — WhatsApp Connect (Meta App)

This page explains how a merchant or a customer can request deletion of data accessed or processed by the WhatsApp Connect app ("the App") through the Meta WhatsApp Business Platform, including the WhatsApp Business Cloud API and related Graph API endpoints ("Meta Platform"). It is provided in accordance with Meta's Platform Terms and Developer Policies on user data deletion.

1. Data Covered by This Page
This applies to data obtained through the Meta Platform via the App, including:
- WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) connection credentials (phone number ID, WABA ID, access token)
- WhatsApp conversation and message history (content, sender/recipient numbers, timestamps, delivery/read status)
- WhatsApp display names received via inbound message webhooks
2. For Merchants: Self-Service Disconnection
A merchant using the App can disconnect their WhatsApp Business Account at any time directly from the App's settings inside their Shopify admin. Disconnecting immediately removes the stored WABA connection credentials (phone number ID, WABA ID, and access token) from our systems.
3. Requesting Full Data Deletion
To request deletion of your WhatsApp connection credentials, conversation history, and any associated message or contact data, send a deletion request by email to:

- The Shopify store domain (e.g.
yourstore.myshopify.com) or the WhatsApp Business Account/phone number ID connected to the App - A description of the data you want deleted (e.g. all conversation data, a specific customer's messages, or full account data)
- Confirmation that you are the merchant who owns the connected store, or the customer whose phone number was used to message the store
We will verify the request and delete the associated data from our active systems within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it to comply with a legal obligation. We will confirm completion by email to the address the request was sent from.
4. What Is Not Deleted by This Process
Deleting data from the App does not delete your WhatsApp Business Account, phone number, or message template data held directly by Meta/WhatsApp — that data is controlled by Meta and must be managed through your Meta Business Suite or WhatsApp Manager account. This process only covers data stored by the App itself.
