Privacy Policy for Swatch Connect

This Privacy Policy describes how Swatch Connect (the "App") collects, uses, and discloses information when you install or use the App in connection with your Shopify-supported store (the "Merchant Store").

Please read this policy carefully to understand how we handle information. By installing and using the App, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

A. Merchant Data

When you install the App, we automatically access certain information from your Shopify account. This includes:

  • Shop Details: Your shop domain, shop name, shop owner email, physical address, phone number, and subscription plan details
  • Access Tokens: API credentials required to communicate with Shopify services on your behalf

B. Shopify Store Data

To provide our services (bidirectional variant linking and shoppable lookbook hotspots), the App accesses and stores specific details from your store catalog:

  • Product Information: Product IDs, titles, handles, descriptions, pricing, and image URLs
  • Variant & Options: Product variant IDs, option names (e.g., color, size), and variant images
  • Theme & Files: Theme configurations and files (required to load and customize the theme blocks and snippet widgets on your storefront)

C. Customer & Visitor Data

When customers visit your online store, our storefront widgets (swatches and hotspots) collect interaction data to display the correct visuals and power your analytics dashboard. This data is collected automatically and includes:

  • Usage & Event Data: Pages viewed, lookbooks viewed, hotspot pins hovered/clicked, swatches selected, and items added to the cart
  • Session Identifier: A randomized, non-personally identifiable session ID used to distinguish unique sessions for analytics
  • Device & Location Info: Broad geographical location (country-level derived from IP) and device type (mobile, desktop, tablet) to populate the analytics dashboard

Note: The App does NOT collect or store sensitive personal information like customer names, credit card numbers, billing addresses, or phone numbers.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, run, and maintain the App's core functionalities (swatches and hotspot overlays)
  • Display variant swatches and interactive hotspot overlays correctly on your store theme
  • Generate aggregated performance reports (views, click-through rates, estimated revenue, and cart activity) in the merchant dashboard
  • Provide customer support and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Comply with applicable legal requirements

3. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We only share data with third parties in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service Providers: We may share data with trusted third-party service providers (such as hosting and cloud database providers) who perform services on our behalf. These partners are legally bound to protect your data and are not permitted to use it for any other purpose
  • Compliance with Laws: We may disclose information if required to do so by law, regulation, or legal process
  • Acquisition or Merger: In the event of a sale, merger, or asset transfer, merchant data may be transferred to the acquiring entity

4. GDPR & CCPA Compliance

We are committed to respecting data privacy rights. We implement Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks (GDPR compliance endpoints):

  • Customer Data Request (/api/gdpr/customers_data_request): If a customer requests their data from the merchant, we assist the merchant in retrieving any related records
  • Customer Redact (/api/gdpr/customers_redact): If a customer requests deletion of their data, we purge any matching customer records upon receiving Shopify's webhook
  • Shop Redact (/api/gdpr/shop_redact): Within 48 hours of app uninstallation, we delete all merchant configurations, product relationships, lookbook configurations, and usage analytics associated with the shop

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard the data we collect against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, please be aware that no security system is completely impenetrable.

6. Data Retention

We retain your store configuration data and lookbooks for as long as you keep the App installed. If you uninstall the App, we will purge all associated store database entries and analytics data within 48 hours, in accordance with Shopify's data protection policies.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy or via email/in-app notification.
